Event overview
Green Tech South West presents an online event showcasing the work of a truely awesome individual – Eric Zie, CEO and co-founder of GoCodeGreen.
Decarbonising digital – what I’ve learnt
I started this journey 3 years ago and have learnt a lot. Here’s my chance to share some thoughts in an informal presentation on how we get to our mission of making digital less environmentally damaging.

Community 60 second intros
An opportunity for you, our community, to (very quickly) share something with the rest of us. This can be anything from a green tech project or initiative you are working on, a request for help or guidance or even some knowledge/resource you’d like to share with others
Elisa Escapa Otani – London based technical writer currently open to part-time and freelancing opportunities in documentation and knowledge sharing. Elisa has experience writing user guides FAQ’s, training materials, templates, release notes – anything that requires getting your customers or your employees to understand how to use your digital product, whether that’s a mobile app, website or web platform. You can check out Elisa’s writing portfolio here and get in touch via her LinkedIn.
Miya Heap – Marketing and Analytics Lead at The Discourse, one of our fantastic sponsors. They’re a B Corp certified certified design agency on a mission to enable the changemakers of this world by partnering predominantly with green tech businesses and charities who work in social impact, to help raise awareness of their work, to attract funding, to grow and ultimately grow their impact. They do this by helping them communicate effectively through brand, web and content. Understanding that communication is a major challenge when it comes to the wider adoption of greener solutions. If you’re keen to learn more, you can get in touch with via their website.
Eleanor Akers – Director and founder of Innovative Energy Consultants, a sustainability and strategy consultancy, currently doing a lot of work helping companies with digital healthcare technologies understand the impact of their digital carbon footprint and how that can be reduced. If anyone is looking for support decarbonising their business, particularly with renewable energy, please get in touch via Eleanor’s LinkedIn!
Tim Prosser – Joining us from Sydney, Australia, Tim spends his days preparing Enterprise IT for their climate disclosures. He is keen to shout out some of the amazing entrepreneurial climate tech start ups part of the Australian group Climate Salad, many of which are UK bound. Tim is also very active in Climate Action Week Sydney, leading industry and engagement there, so if you have any networks in Australia or Sydney their next events are 10-16th March! You can reach out to Tim via his LinkedIn.
Sam Partington – Oxford based Senior Software Engineer for GitHub. Interested in what software engineers can do to make things more sustainable in terms of their own projects, Sam has put together a cheat sheet which he’s been kind enough to share! Link to the sheet here, and Sam’s website.
Francesca Pheasant – Senior Service Designer at Digital Catapult who are working on an exciting new program called ‘Designed to Deliver’, funded by Innovation UK. On 16th of September an open call will be going out on their website looking for nature tech SME’s to be part of a new type of incubator-accelerator program where they’ll help you test and fund your solution and funding you from different locations across the UK from Jan-March next year. If you’re interested, please keep an eye out on their website and make sure you apply!
James Chudley – Experience Director & Strategic Consultant at cxpartners and Green Tech South West alumni, James is currently working on a hobby project based on the web sustainability guidelines from W3C. Having worked with a lot of W3C guidelines recently, he was keen to come up with a checklist to help product and services owners put the guidelines into practice and benchmark their services, which he has kindly shared with us here!
