How to talk to clients about their digital carbon footprint

Liam Snelling, co-founder and MD at Digital Detox for Green Tech South West giving a talk on how to talk to clients about their carbon footprint

Event overview

Green Tech South West welcomes Liam Snelling, co-founder and MD at Digital Detox, to share his ideas on “How to talk to your clients about their digital carbon footprint”.

Q. What is a digital carbon footprint?

A. The transmission of data via the internet can be very polluting, contributing to 4% of our global greenhouse gas emissions. So every time we use the internet or social media, a small amount of carbon is being emitted. Every single search query, every downloaded document, every streamed song or video and every email sent, billions of times over all around the world, all adds up to an ever-increasing global demand for electricity, and to rising CO2 emissions too. Our increasing reliance on digital tools has an environmental impact that’s becoming increasingly harder to ignore.

Using experiences of working with Vodafone’s Customer Products and Services team to explore their digital carbon footprint, Liam talks through a 5 step process to create awareness, facilitate conversations and ultimately help your clients make inroads into understanding and reducing their digital carbon footprints.
