Community 60 second intros
An opportunity for you, our community, to (very quickly) share something with the rest of us. This can be anything from a green tech project or initiative you are working on, a request for help or guidance or even some knowledge/resource you’d like to share with others
Oliver Cronk – Tech Director at Scott Logic (the generous hosts of our event space!) who have recently completed a project using generative AI to detect greenwashing in companies sustainability reports for which they have just received funding, so watch this space!
Mary Stevens – Experiments Programme Manager at Friends of the Earth, the environmental campaigning organisation. Mary recently did a talk at our Charities doing cool things in green tech event in October to share some principles they were working on with help from the Mozilla foundation which have since been published. The report details principles and practices for responsible AI use predominately targeted at the civil society sector but can be widely applied, you can take a look here. Mary will be presenting the report at the next Digital Leads Network AI Peer Group event on Wednesday 26th February hosted by CAST, an organisation that supports civil society organisations with digital transformations. Finally, Tech For Good South West have set up an AI peer led network to look at how smaller civil society organisations are rolling out AI, offering an opportunity to explore responsible and practical AI use.
Alex Qiu – Has a background in Physics and Photosyntheses. He has an idea to incentivise private landlords and developers to make their homes more energy efficient by giving renters and buyers a better information of what the energy bills are going to be like in those property before they buy/rent using Machine Learning. Alex is keen to hear feedback on his idea so if you would like to brainstorm with him please do reach out.
Howard Johns – Serial Entrepreneur in the energy space, John has recently launched Onezero Energy in Sussex which aoming to get people retrofit their homes with solar batteries and heat pumps and join them together to create a virtual power plant. They are looking to launch in Bristol over the coming year, so if anyone is keen to collaborate, please do get in touch with Howard.
Simon Pyne– Works at Greener Energy Futures who help organisations decarbonise including Marshfield’s Farm Ice Cream and Avon Fire and Rescue. Simon’s largest challenge is Scope 3 decarbonisation and is interested in partners who can help them engage their clients in scope 3 decarbonisation e.g. supply chain management, so if you are in the supply chain management or value chain management space Simon would love to talk to you.
